Day 5: Simply remember your favourite things

Isn’t it interesting how our perspectives change as we grow older?

I remember watching The Sound of Music for the first time as a child and I didn’t really get it. I didn’t know the lyrics so I couldn’t sing along; the politics were over my head; and the children having to leave their home in the middle of the night made me all too sad.

Over the years, I realised that Maria really knew her stuff by teaching the von Trapp clan about their favourite things.

True to the Law of Attraction, the best way to raise your vibration is to think better-feeling thoughts, and what better-feeling thoughts are there than to think about your favourite things? If you’re not familiar with the lyrics to Maria’s rendition of “My favourite things“, here are the first two verses.

“Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favourite things.”

But first the daily recap of your new story for reprogramming purposes…

Read your story 3 or 4 times—or more—to raise your vibration.

Now for today’s task. Can you list some of your favourite things to the tune of Maria’s “My favourite things“? I’ll go first.

“Pizza and beer and the beach in the morning
Falling asleep after stretching and yawning
Curls in my hair and bright butterfly wings
These are a few of my favourite things”

Feel free to change it up and be silly!

“Bread in the oven and cinnamon muffins
Gucci perfume and some chicken with stuffin’
Rain in the air and fresh oysters in shells
These are a few of my favourite smells”

Clearly it doesn’t have to be perfect, but it can be fun.

And because the Law of Attraction never fails, Maria’s pep talk has some truth in it…

“When the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I’m feeling sad, I simply remember my favourite things and then I don’t feel so bad.”
